Western Carolina University’s Office of Student Transitions hosted a Tau Sigma National Honor Society induction ceremony and reception on March 19 in the Multipurpose Room of A.K. Hinds University Center.

Tau Sigma recognizes the academic accomplishments of new transfer students who earned a 3.5 or greater GPA during their first semester at WCU.

“This year, we inducted 91 new members, which is the largest new group ever for us,” said Glenda Hensley, director of the Office of Student Transitions. “Our prior years, we have averaged about 39 new members, so this group is on the rise.”

Ceremony activities also included the presentation of a National Tau Sigma scholarship check to this year’s WCU recipient - Hannah Bailey, president of the honor society's WCU chapter.
