Western Carolina University’s Department of World Languages is hosting its fifth annual World Languages Poetry Event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Illusions at A.K. Hinds University Center.
The Valentine’s Day event is free and open to the public, as WCU students, faculty and staff present poems written in a world language and focused on the theme of love, whether original or an established work. Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white or black in recognition of the holiday of romance, cards and flowers, and poetry.
“I really enjoy this event every year because we bring so many people together who love languages,” said Garrett Fisher, event organizer and instructor of Spanish. “WCU student Kayla Boger is helping with the coordination again this year. I’ve been extremely impressed with her motivation and dedication to making this event enjoyable for everyone.”
