Mexican-American relationship to be topic of talk by historian

Jurgen Buchenau, chair of the history department at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, will present a talk on Mexican and American relations at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in Room 121 of the McKee Building at Western Carolina University.

The talk is a DegreePlus event for students and sponsored by WCU’s College of Arts and Sciences’ Humanities Initiative.

The presentation is titled “MexAmerica: Reconsidering Mexican-American Relations.” Buchenau is the author of “The Once and Future Revolution: Social Upheaval and the Negotiation of Rule during Mexico’s Long Twentieth Century” and is currently writing a history of the Sonoran era of Mexican governance, when leaders from the northwestern state of Sonora won the Mexican Revolution in 1920.
