An authors’ event for an adult coloring book with a mathematical theme will take place at MadStone Cafe & Catching Light Books at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25.
“Coloring Book of Complex Function Representations” was created by two faculty members of Western Carolina University’s Mathematics and Computer Science Department, Julie Barnes and Bill Kreahling. The 39-page book features 18 images and the math that produced them.
Adult coloring books are a popular trend, appealing to users as a type of art therapy, creative hobby and relaxation method. Barnes and Kreahling’s coloring book has proven a hit among both mathematicians and non-mathematicians since its publication in the summer of 2017.
The combination eatery and bookstore is located in WCU’s Noble Hall. For more information, call MadStone Cafe & Catching Light Books at 828-293-0741.
