Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment is offering an event planning workshop that focuses on planning, organization and implementation from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at WCU’s instructional site at Biltmore Park in Asheville.
“Creating an event takes effective planning and a keen understanding of the event management process,” said Jill Thompson, workshop instructor and WCU’s associate director of professional development. “When planning an event, there are a multitude of tasks to consider and many relationships to manage along the way.”
The workshop will cover the most common types of events, including celebratory, social and business strategy events, and what is common or specific to the event planning process for those types of events.
Bobby Hensley, WCU’s associate director of continuing education, also will serve as an instructor for the workshop.
This workshop can also be applied toward a certificate in event planning. The registration fee is $119 for the Oct. 18 workshop or $640 for all six certificate workshops.
