Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment is offering a course in “Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10-Hour Construction Industry Training” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, and Friday, Oct. 12, at WCU’s Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville.
“The purpose of this course is to promote workplace safety and health, and to make workers more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights,” said Ahmed Al-Bayati, workshop instructor and assistant professor in WCU’s Department of Construction Management.
The course is designed to give students insight into the various OSHA standards related to construction and to provide the information and skills they need to work safely in the construction industry.
A secondary goal of the course is to learn the role of the competent person for the various construction safety standards, Al-Bayati said.
The registration fee is $249, with a catered lunch included both days.
