Accountancy program fall banquet scheduled in Waynesville

Western Carolina University’s accountancy program will hold its annual fall banquet at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the Waynesville Inn in Waynesville.

Cynthia Cooper, a consultant, author and a Time magazine “Person of the Year” for her role in uncovering fraud in the WorldCom telecommunications accounting scandal, will be the featured speaker. She also will be signing copies of her bestseller “Extraordinary Circumstances: The Journey of a Corporate Whistleblower.”

Through corporate and individual sponsorships, the banquet is free for all WCU accountancy students. For all others, the cost is $40. The event is open to the public.
