Nominations being accepted for Board of Governors teaching award

WCU English professor Laura Wright (shown at right) was the university's 2018 recipient of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching. Nominations for the 2019 award will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 7.

The nomination period has opened for the University of North Carolina Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Nominations of Western Carolina University faculty members can be submitted via this short survey through Friday, Sept. 7. Nominations will be accepted from WCU deans, faculty and alumni.

Faculty members are eligible for nomination if they are tenured and have been employed at WCU for at least seven years. In addition, excellence in teaching for a sustained period should be demonstrated, and faculty should be teaching currently. Those on scholarly leave are eligible but will need to be observed in a teaching setting.

Questions should be directed to Julie Johnson-Busbin, selection committee chair, at jjohnson@wcu.edu.
