Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment will be offering a “Better Communication Through Creative Play” workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at WCU’s Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville.
“This exciting workshop uses improvisational theater exercises to break down the elements of good communication,” said workshop instructor Neela Muñoz. “Whether you're building rapport, networking, connecting with clients or potential clients, or simply conversing with friends and family, this workshop gives you a chance to recognize what you do well and an opportunity to build in those areas you wish to improve.”
Muñoz is a consultant and coach with Ignite CSP, a coaching firm that specializes in experiential, hands-on coaching and workshops that train clients to communicate with authenticity, clarity and meaning.
Workshop participants will have an opportunity to learn how to grow in their comfort to stay open in a genuine way that allows for connection with others, deepen their understanding of active and intentional listening, and develop nimbleness and flexibility of thinking, and they’ll have an opportunity to practice these skills using real-life scenarios, she said.
“We take the time to explore the elements of good communication in a fun, creative way, that will have you feeling more connected to the world around you,” Muñoz said. “Come play with us.” Participants should wear comfortable clothes and come with a sense of adventure, she said.
Early-bird registration is $99. After Saturday, Sept. 1, the fee will be $125. Lunch is included.
