Sunday Cinema Series to feature performances from London, Moscow

A new series of screenings featuring pre-recorded live performances from London and Moscow will be coming to Western Carolina University’s John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.

The Sunday Cinema Series, which will be composed of seven performances from London’s National Theatre and the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, will showcase critically acclaimed actors and productions in high-definition on the big screen in the Bardo Arts Center’s Performance Hall. The screenings are presented in partnership with BY Experience, a project that provides global audiences affordable access to high quality cultural events from around the world.

Those who attend also can choose from a larger selection of concessions before and during the screenings.

Subscriptions to the Sunday Cinema Series are currently on sale and will remain open until the first screening on Sunday, Aug. 26, which will feature “Yerma.” All shows are at 3 p.m.

Those who purchase a series subscription will receive seven tickets for the cost of six. All seating is general admission. Subscriptions are $90 for adults, $60 for WCU faculty/staff and seniors, and $25 for students.

Individual tickets will go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 15, at $15 for adults, $10 for WCU faculty/staff and seniors, and $5 for students. For more information about the series or to become a subscriber, visit arts.wcu.edu/cinema or call 828-227-2787.

March 10: “Sleeping Beauty”

May 5: “Hamlet”
