Events:
Appalachain Studies Conference, 2010

Southern Highland Craft Guild Librarian, Deb Schillo and Craft Revival project director, Anna Fariello attended two conferences where they promoted the Southern Highland Craft Guild and the historic Craft Revival. The two attended the Georgia Art Education Association conference last fall where Anna was part of a symposium on American craft. The GAEA conference theme was “Celebrating Craft in the Southern Mountains.” In March, Deb and Anna set up a display as part of the Appalachian Studies Association conference. The pair staffed a booth and answered questions about the Guild, membership, and Western Carolina’s Craft Revival documentation project. Teachers are the primary audience for both conferences. GAEA membership is made up of K-12 teachers; ASA members are public school teachers as well as college and university professors.
