The Senate of the United States by a vote of 23 18 five majority adopted Mr. Clay's proposition to remodel and aggravate the Tariff.

What next? The proceedings of the Senate on the 30th March, would show, that the bill reported in the pursuance of Mr. Clay's resolution will possibly pass the Senate, 27 or 28 votes to 21 20, or by a majority of seven or eight votes. When the account of this shall reach Charleston, we may expect a firing of the 'Mercury's'
