IRB Application Process

IRBNet Logo

WCU now uses IRBNet, a web-based electronic system for IRB submissions and the review process. IRBNet may be accessed from any computer with an internet connection and provides easy access to all IRB documents in one location. IRBNet may be accessed at www.irbnet.org.

User Registration in IRBNet

Each member of the research team must register for an account in IRBNet. Check the link below for detailed registration instructions, including how to affiliate with WCU.

Required Human Subjects Training

Researchers are responsible for including certification of human subjects training with each submission to the IRB. Certification must be included for all research personnel included in the application. Researchers may upload their certificates into the IRBNet user profiles, allowing them to easily link training to each project. Click the link below for detailed instructions.

How to Submit a Project

For all initial submissions, researchers will go in to IRBNet and create a new project. WCU forms and templates are available for download directly from IRBNet. Researchers will upload their completed application and all study documents for review into IRBNet. The Initial Submission Quick Guide provides a step by step overview of the IRBNet submission process.

Post-Approval Project Functions

For all post-approval functions on a project (i.e. modification, continuing review, etc.) researchers will create a new package within the original project submission.
