The college offers a wide range of programs in the sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities where students use innovative modes of inquiry to pursue new knowledge. Faculty are dedicated teacher-scholars who teach the skills that 21st century employers demand: critical thinking, analysis of evidence, and oral, written, and digital communication. One of the college's goals is to develop and mentor students to be educated and engaged citizens in a rapidly changing world.

The college's assessment efforts are centered on helping their students develop the judgment skills, tools and experiences required for them to make a difference in the world. The academic programs emphasize career-focused academic studies, co-curricular activities, and community involvement opportunities to provide a foundation for ethical decision making, professional preparation, enrichment of soft skills, development of lifelong learning skills and solutions to real world problems; and real world experience through internships, capstone projects, and global exposure.

This college prepares our students to become educators, counselors, psychologists, and other human service specialists. At the college-level, curriculum builds on the development and maintenance of a community that recognizes the importance of professional development and preparation.  Faculty demonstrate commitment to teaching, service, and research by facilitating course-embedded experiences that promote discipline-specific knowledge, leadership, cultural awareness, and inquiry.

The college houses two schools that assess specific outcomes for their students. Its curriculum focuses on the development of critical thinking and decision-making skills through projects that highlight discipline-specific knowledge, teamwork, communication skills, and leadership.
