In-Person Programs and Costs

The Office of Global Engagement has decided to suspend the Intensive English Program (IEP) starting January 1, 2023.

Conditional Admission to Western Carolina University

Intensive English Program students have the option to apply for conditional admission to study in Western Carolina University. To do this select IEP + Conditional Admission when completing the IEP application.

Following successful completion of the WCU IEP, students with conditional admission may enter a bachelor's degree program without providing a TOEFL or IELTS score.

Students who do not complete the IEP at WCU must have one of the following scores to apply as an undergraduate:
75 TOEFL iBT, 6.0 IELTS (no score lower than 5.0 in each area), 95 Duolingo, 50 PTE Academic

Individuals interested in conditional admission to graduate programs must apply first to the WCU Graduate School, and indicate your interest in the Intensive English Program.

Important: IEP Online @ WCU courses do not satisfy the requirements for conditional admission. Those interested in conditional admission to Western Carolina University must attend and complete the full-time, in-person IEP program.
