Flipped Video and Screen Capture

One of the most exciting new educational technology techniques is to create video resources for students to view outside of class. Western Carolina University’s tool of choice for this is Panopto. The Coulter Faculty Commons provides all faculty, staff, and graduate student support for Panopto, including course set up, training with the built-in editors, and troubleshooting.

Presentation Tools

The Educational Technology team also provides support for PollEverywhere, a virtual clicker and classroom interactivity and polling tool. All Instructors and students have access to the WCU PollEverywhere account with their @wcu.edu or @catamount.edu email. The CFC also supports the use of PowerPoint, and Sway. For Google Slides, Prezi, and other digital presentation tools we will be happy to bring our best efforts to the table in your assistance. Learn more about accessing & using PollEverywhere

Web Presence

Faculty and staff at Western Carolina may request WordPress sites on the faculty.wcu.edu domain. The Ed Tech team can also provide support for designing a site, the functionality of WordPress, and get you started if you want to learn more about HTML and CSS coding. Request a WordPress site

One more simple tool with less functionality but a far less steep learning curve is offered by Microsoft and integrated as part of our Microsoft 365 package. We will be glad to help you set up and optimize the use of Sway, a micro-website that can be accessed directly from your Office365 account.
