Ashlee Wasmund holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from Western Illinois University and has been dancing for over 25 years in myriad capacities. While earning her Master’s degree, she continued her dance training and choreographed multiple pieces for Western Illinois' mainstage dance concerts. She has competed in both national and international dance competitions, performed in and choreographed for numerous concert-style dance productions, danced professionally with the former Ballet Internationale Company, and performed in NFL halftime shows.
In addition to her local training, Wasmund also studied Dance Performance at the University of Sunderland, UK, and performed with an amateur hip-hop group while there. She has performed, choreographed, and directed musicals for professional companies, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations; some of her favorites include Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, and Ups for Downs in Chicagoland.
Prior to joining the faculty at Western Carolina University, Wasmund taught courses in dance, movement, acting and directing at the Chicago Academy for the Arts, Carthage College in Wisconsin, Concordia University Chicago and various regional camps and workshops. As an actor, she has worked for a variety of both Equity and non-Equity theaters and appeared on-screen in commercials and industrials. She is a proud original company member of Midsommer Flight Theatre, which seeks to bring high-quality, free Shakespeare performances to underserved Chicago neighborhoods.
