The School of Music and our students are fortunate to have access to state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, software and performance venues to enhance the educational experience and provide hand-on learning.
The School of Music is housed in the Coulter Building, which we share with the English department. There are rehearsal halls for choral and instrumental groups, music classrooms equipped with computer and audio/visual equipment, practice rooms, a computer music lab and the Music Recital Hall. Most faculty offices and teaching studios also are located in this building.
Student, faculty and guest recitals are held in Music Recital Hall in the Coulter Building, a 440-seat concert venue. A Steinway grand piano and a small pipe organ are available for performances. Large ensemble concerts and musical theatre productions are held in the Fine and Performing Arts Center.
The $30M Bardo Arts Center, which opened in the fall of 2005, houses a 1,000-seat performance hall complete with technical areas supporting the center. The Center is home to the Musical Theatre Program and hosts professional music and dramatic performances.
The professional-quality studio serves the audio and music recording needs of the university and the community at large. It comprises a 1,200-square-foot tracking room, two isolation booths, two editing rooms, and a main control room. Featured equipment includes an SSL C200 96-channel console and Pro Tools recording and editing hardware and software.
