The B.S. in Engineering Technology - Technical Operations (ETO) is a part-time program for working professionals offered at three off-campus sites: Asheville, Hickory (Morganton) and Spindale, North Carolina. The ETO program enables individuals employed in business, industry and state-related occupations to pursue a four-year degree through a combination of part-time evening study and online courses. Graduates earn a B.S. degree in Engineering Technology - Concentration in Technical Operations.

Students with a two-year degree in engineering technology who are interested in earning a bachelor's degree in ETO should contact the School of Engineering + Technology to discuss the structure and nature of the program and whether it is suitable for their situation.

The Engineering Technology – ETO concentration program is not currently accredited by ABET

The B.S. in Engineering Technology Program - Technical Operations Program requires 124 total hours, including 42 hours in Liberal Studies.

Program Objectives 

  1. Analyze, design, implement, and maintain practical technical systems and apply technical skills in contemporary industrial practices related to his or her specialization.
  2. Communicate effectively in both individual and team situations using oral, written, and graphic communications.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of current industry practices, safety, and technical operations that will facilitate advancement of the individual in the Engineering Technology professions.
