Glenn Middleton is an instructor of Parks and Recreation Management at Western Carolina University. He earned his B.S. in Environmental Sciences Management from Northern Arizona University and his M.S. in Experiential Education from Minnesota State University at Mankato. Glenn’s teaching background includes courses in challenge course facilitation, working with special populations, outdoor recreation, canoeing, backpacking, rock climbing, and swiftwater rescue. Glenn’s practitioner background includes YMCA camps, college/university outdoor programs, and various Outward Bound schools as a backpacking, canoeing, sea kayaking instructor and whitewater canoeing and rock climbing specialist. Glenn’s current research interests are on the sacred, divine, and spiritual in experiential education as well as the mentor/mentee relationship’s applications to experiential education. Glenn holds various certifications in wilderness first response, rock climbing, canoeing, and swiftwater rescue.
