Catamount Faculty to Lead Students Abroad in Kenya

WCU Students in Kenya

Catamount faculty members Pam Buskey and Melissa Faetz are packing their bags to take an unforgettable trip to Kenya alongside education students. During the trip, students will have the opportunity to explore the Kenyan education system, step outside comfort zones and leave a lasting impact on young learners in Kenya.

The dates for the trip are Oct. 7 - 22. This year, four WCU students will have the opportunity to visit public and private schools in Nairobi. They will speak with village elders, teach in pairs, experience a tiny village stay and even go on a safari. Students are exposed to systemic issues like funding and teacher pay, writing reflections daily on their experiences. Once they return to campus, the students will share their experiences with a Diversity Dialogue.
