Western Carolina University assistant professor Amy Stringer has been named North Carolina College/University Physical Education Teacher of the Year by NC SHAPE, the state’s professional organization for health and physical education educators.
Betty Jo Moore, student in the elementary/middle grades M.A.Ed. program, has received the 2020 NCSTA Ann Watkins Middle School Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Dave Strahan, Professor Emeritus, was recognized as the 2020 Richard “Dick” Lipka Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
Dr. Kofi Lomotey, received the 2020 Campbell Award in recognition of lifetime professional excellence and achievement from UCEA, the University Council for Educational Administration.
Dr. Maurice Phipps, Professor Emeritus, recently published a book on the subject, titled “Outdoor Instruction: Teaching and Learning Concepts for Outdoor Instructors.”
On October 8, the WCU HESA Grad Program proudly participated in the ACPA .
On October 9-11, master level counseling students spent a 3 day camping trip as part of the Nature as a Metaphor in Counseling course.
Dr. Roya Scales, Professor in the School of Teaching and Learning, has published a book titled, Teaching Reading and Writing PreK-3: A Practical Approach.
Dr. Sarah Minnis, faculty in the Master of Human Resources Program, co-edited a special issue of the journal New Directions for Adult and Continuing Education.
