Language Contest

Western Carolina University's 36th annual Language Contest for high school and middle school students will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Western Carolina's Ramsey Center.

The Department of World Languages sponsors this annual language competition for regional high school and middle school students. The contest is designed to test students' knowledge in French, Spanish, and Cherokee. Individuals and teams in French and Spanish will compete in several events: music, quiz bowl, native speaker Spanish quiz bowl, skits, show and tell, how-to, poetry recitation, native speaker poetry and extemporaneous speaking. Students competing in Cherokee will test their knowledge in show and tell and how-to events.

The department's students and faculty, along with volunteers from other departments on campus, serve as judges.
