Sigma Theta Tau International, the international honor society of nursing, is committed to advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. Sigma Theta Tau also recognizes superior achievement and the development of leadership, fosters high professional standards, encourages creative work and strengthens the ideals of the profession. Membership in the honor society is by invitation. Candidates for membership include School of Nursing undergraduates ranked in the top 35 percent of their class, graduate students and community leaders.
