Dr. Whichello received a Diploma in Nursing from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing
in 1980 and a Bachelor in Nursing from Western Carolina University in 1989. In 1991,
she received a Master in Nursing degree from Emory University. In 2017, she received
a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from East Tennessee State University.
Dr. Whichello worked at an area tertiary health care system from 1980 - 2008 in nursing
leadership and adult oncology. She served as Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer
in the tertiary healthcare system from 1998 - 2008.
Dr. Whichello is married and the mother of two daughters. She is currently on faculty as an associate professor at Western Carolina University at the Biltmore Park Instructional Site in Asheville, North Carolina. She is a member of American Organization of Nurse Executives, North Carolina Organization of Nurse Leaders, North Carolina Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International. She has experience with professional and regulatory agencies and organizations at the local, state, and national level.
