Jennifer Riseden is an Assistant Professor in the ABSN Program at Western Carolina University. She began her career at WCU in August of 2017.
Mrs. Riseden brings 13 years of clinical experience to the classroom. She has over a decade of experience working in Emergency Medicine in the role of a Registered Nurse as well as Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining WCU, she worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a family medicine clinic in Knoxville, TN. She has also worked as online adjunct faculty in the School of Nursing for Grand Canyon University since January of 2016.
Mrs. Riseden's educational background began with a Bachelors degree in Nursing from Carson Newman University. After working in the Emergency Department for over 4 years as a Registered Nurse she decided to pursue her Masters of Science in Nursing. She then graduated in 2011 from Carson Newman University with her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as Nurse Educator. As part of her Nursing Education degree she helped develop a Clinical preparation booklet for the Maternal Infant skills lab at Carson Newman. Her research during her MSN degree focused on Parental Decision making in Childhood illness.
She currently resides in Asheville, NC with her husband and three children.
