Bio: I completed my BS in Recreational Therapy from Western Carolina University in 1999.  I practiced recreational therapy as a LRT (Licensed Recreational Therapy)/CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist). During my career, I worked in behavioral health at Grace Hospital, Morganton, NC and Broughton Hospital, Morganton, NC working with youth and older adults.

In 2016, I completed a MS in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy from Clemson University.  In Fall 2016, I returned to Western Carolina University to teach in the Recreational Therapy Program.

Research interest includes dementia, autism, and clinical supervision. I provide service through advising the student lead Recreational Therapy Association, Board of Directors (member-at-large) for North Carolina Recreational Therapy Association, and assisting students to promote recreational therapy and the duet bike in Western North Carolina.

On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two boys, being outdoors, hiking, and gardening.
