Biography:
I joined the WCU Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders as a clinical supervisor
in fall of 2021, serving school-aged children in Swain and Jackson County. Most recently,
I served the NC High Country as a clinical supervisor and speech-language pathologist
for three years at Appalachian State University, working with an adult and geriatric
population in an outpatient clinical setting. Previous experience includes a graduate
externship at the Voice Center of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, inpatient and
outpatient rehabilitation at UNC Rex Healthcare and the Durham VA Medical Center with
a special interest in blast related mild traumatic brain injury. As a trained singer,
I found a specific passion for the treatment of voice disorders and have also enjoyed
practicing the assessment and treatment of dysphagia. I am most passionate about training
graduate student clinicians to implement evidenced based assessment and treatment
in order to provide quality, client-centered care. I love working with our future
SLP’s! When I'm not supervising, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking,
trying new coffee shops and restaurants, traveling, and listening to true crime podcasts.
