Pride of the Mountains Marching Band
The WCU marching band was founded in 1938 with just 23 students. Today the award-winning Pride of the Mountains marching band has grown to almost 500 members, one of the largest in the United States. This "world’s largest funk-rock band" is widely regarded as one of the top marching bands in the Southeast for its elaborate field shows, with a crowd-pleasing medley of up-tempo pop tunes, electric guitars, singers and more.

Tournament of Champions
Our 23rd annual Tournament of Champions will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Registration opens Tuesday, February 11th at 7:00pm.
Percussion and Color Guard Auditions
Auditions for 2025 are set; percussion will be May 17th and June 18th, color guard will be April 12-13th and May 17th. If you are planning to audition for these groups, be sure to remember these dates and keep checking in for the commitment form. Audition materials will be sent once the form is complete. Good Luck!
Band Day
Calling all high school band students! We are hosting our third annual Band Day on a Saturday in the Fall of 2025! Students have the opportunity to warm up with Pride of the Mountains marching band as well as perform in the Pre-Game show!

Wind Audition Information
Any person wanting to be a member of the wind section should fill out the commitment form, which is available now. Wind audition information will be available soon. The window for submisson for these auditions will be March 1st to April 30th, 2025. If you are selected, a required camp day for Wind Players will be held on June 11th, 2025. If you have any questions about auditioning, please contact potminfo@wcu.edu
