Compass Program

The Compass program is designed to provide additional guidance and support for first-generation, low income, or independent students. All first-generation, low income, or independent students are eligible to apply, and are accepted into the program based on need as determined by the MAPS professional staff. In addition to access to all services provided by MAPS, students accepted to Compass are matched with a Professional Advisor from the MAPS office who serves as an academic advisor, coach, mentor, and guide throughout their academic journey at WCU. Students meet regularly with their Compass Advisor for individualized consultations regarding a variety of topics, such as academic, social, personal, and career exploration and planning.

How to Apply

Students admitted to WCU can apply by obtaining a copy of the Compass application from our office in 205 Killian Annex or by clicking below to download the application. All applicants who meet eligibility requirements will be considered for admission to Compass. However, our program only accepts a limited number of students each semester.

Students are encouraged to apply as soon as they receive their acceptance to WCU. Upon application review, the student will be notified of their status.
