Student Democracy Coalition

The Student Democracy Coaltion is a non-partisan student organization dedicated to increasing civic engagement on our campus. We focus on voter registration, issues-driven education, and advocacy for voting rights.

Meetings take place weekly in the Fall and Spring semesters.

Over the last five years, SDC has helped to register more than 6,000 voters. Come and see us during any of our voter registration drives. Better yet -- join us in September for National Voter Registration Day and register to vote and help us "break the tie" with a tie dye event!

So you are registrered to vote-- what's next? How do you decide who to support? We can help you learn more! We host workshops like "What's on the Ballot?," debate and results watch parties, and large scale events like Democracy Day and Stroll to the Polls where candidates from all parties are invited to campus to meet students.

How can you use your voice besides voting? Looking to take a stand? We participate in annual marches like HKonJ in Raleigh, the Women's March in Asheville, and MLK March on Campus. We have also led petitioning campaigins for online voter registration in NC and to get a polling place on campus.
