Services Agency. The program provides nutritious meals to elderly, homebound and
disabled residents who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. Volunteers are
needed on a regular or substitute basis to deliver meals on specified days throughout
the week. They are a members of Meals on Wheels America . |
Training: | Volunteers will receive training via MOW Staff. All interested volunteers are to
sign up here: Volunteer Sign Up Form |
Time Commitment: | Delivery time is approximately two hours, usually from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Most volunteers
have a regular delivery day and route. Substitute drivers may work various days to
fill-in for regular drivers. |
Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | A Meals on Wheels volunteer should have an interest in helping the elderly and be
able to empathize with the medical and social conditions of their clients. Meals on
Wheels provides not only a nutritious meal but also personal connection that many
recipients lack and need. The volunteer may be the only person the recipient sees
all day long, so a caring, positive attitude is essential. In case of an emergency,
volunteers are trained to immediately call 911 and then the Program Supervisor. |
