Agency Description: The Friends of Panthertown works in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to conserve this outstanding natural resource while improving the quality and experience of recreational opportunities in Panthertown Valley. Volunteers maintain 30 miles of public trails in this treasured backcountry recreation area located in the Nantahala National Forest. Tools and training are provided, and volunteers can take advantage of opportunities to help with special events and presentations, and to provide administrative assistance to our organization. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Training: We offer our volunteers training opportunities for outdoor recreation (such as leading guided hikes and mountain biking trips), trail maintenance, forest stewardship and conservation, CPR and first aid, chainsaw certification, customer service, public speaking, and event planning.
