Find a job using WCU's online jobs board, JobCat 2.0. Contact the person listed for the job you’re interested in. Each department has their own interview and hiring process. Once a department agrees to hire you, come to the Student Employment Office with the completed hiring form for processing. To be hired for the first time, you will need a social security card, passport, birth certificate, etc. For a complete list, see Find a Job.
No. You only need to provide these documents once. I-9s are kept on file for a period
of time. However, if you have a lapse of employment for more than one semester, you
may need to complete an updated tax form (W-4, NC-4).
*Aramark positions are separate from the University and are not considered campus jobs.
No. Federal law requires original documents for the completion of an I-9. Fax or photocopies are not acceptable.
You must be registered at least part-time for an upcoming semester—
Undergraduate Students: 6 hours during the school year, 3 hours during the summer
Graduate Students: 5 hours during the school year, 3 hours during the summer
Yes. You can have multiple jobs (work-study and non work-study) at a time. However, you may only work a combined total of 25 hours per week (or 20 for international students). If you are taking summer classes, you may only work up to 25 hours during the summer term. Students may work up to 40 hours per week during times when classes are not in session (Fall, Winter, Spring breaks) or during summer sessions, provided they are not registered for a class.
Hourly positions are paid by the hour, every other week. For the bi-weekly payroll schedule, see the Payroll website. Contract positions are paid once a month at the end of each month.
