The Center for Career and Professional Development and the Alumni Affairs office offer a variety of opportunities and support. These offerings range from broad networking and affiliation to specific services and tools. They include formal and informal job shadowing, internship and job listing services and job searching assistance, guest speaking, career counseling and consultation, and on-campus recruiting. Need Career Help for Yourself?

The Center for Career & Professional Development offers services for alumni. We are happy to review your resume, make suggestions about job markets if you are changing jobs, provide counseling for those of you who may want to change careers and give you access to our online job program JobCat. These services and events are free for alumni to attend and participate in. Alumni who are interested in any of our services should contact us at 828-227-7133.

The Center for Career and Professional Development has several career guides for download. These guides are intended to help students and alumni find majors, career paths, as well as construct competitive application materials, prepare for interviews, navigate the job and internship searching process, and find and apply for graduate school programs. Each guide is an interactive and fillable PDF.

Job Cat is Western Carolina University's website that hosts regional and nationwide positions for full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities. You can create a free account in the system as an alumni and have access to the job postings and career fairs that WCU is offering. If you have trouble setting up your account call our office at 828-227-7133. 
Alumni have free access to our Big Interview system that helps you practice your interview and salary negotiation skills. In addition, this system provides AI review of your resume and provides suggestions for how to improve it when applying for specific jobs. For access to this system please email us at careerservices@wcu.edu for the access code to create an account.
Alumni and allowed to attend our virtual or in-person workshops, employer information sessions, tabling events, career fairs, and other activities. You can find a full list of our upcoming events on our Engage page
Please contact us directly to schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor in-person or virtually. We do offer evening appointments. We offer assistance in resume  and cover letter writing, job searching, career exploration, interview preparation, graduate school preparation, personal statements, and any other career-related questions you have!
