Engineering and Technology
Wes Stone is a Professor in the School of Engineering + Technology. He joined WCU in 2004 after 9 years in industry with General Electric and 2 years teaching at Valparaiso University. He earned his BS at the University of Texas at Austin, MS at Penn State University, and PhD at Georgia Tech – all 3 in Mechanical Engineering. He serves as the Engineering Technology Program Director and as 1 of 2 Outdoor Industry Faculty Liaisons. He teaches courses in product development, Lean Six Sigma, numerical methods, and several others. His research interests are focused in outdoor gear design, analysis, and testing.
During his time at WCU, Dr. Stone has taught a wide array of courses in Engineering + Technology. Most recently he has taught courses in product development, Lean Six Sigma (quality), and numerical methods.
Dr. Stone's scholarship is focused in two main areas: engineering education and outdoor gear design, analysis, and testing.
