Dr. Youstin joined the WCU faculty in 2016. She received her Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2007, and her PhD from John Jay College (formally The Graduate Center, City University of New York) in 2012. Her dissertation examined gender differences in Life-Course Criminology.
Dr. Youstin has taught over 15 different classes at the university level. Her favorite courses to teach are Statistics and Theories of Crime.
Dr. Youstin has a variety of research interests. Some general areas that she has focused on include Sex Crime Policies, Gender and Crime, Life Course Criminology, and Environmental Criminology which looks at the relationship between place, time and crime.
