Dr. Pierce has fifteen years of industrial experience in the fields of machine design and analysis, development of automated industrial equipment, and process development. He has designed a wide range of manufacturing and high-precision positioning equipment. Dr. Pierce has been teaching engineering for twelve years, first at York College of PA, then at Sweet Briar College, and finally at Western Carolina University.
My teaching interests are in the areas of machine design, solid mechanics, controls, and mechatronics.
My research interests are in the areas of bioengineering and biomechanics, machine design and mechatronics, and the pedagogy of machine design.
