Biography

My name is Michael Mazarky, and I have been in public safety for over 25 years. Most recently I was the Emergency Management Director for Rabun County and was there for over 7 years. Before that, I was a Sergeant with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. As a supervisor in Investigations, I was responsible for 6 investigators that handled Crimes against persons (murders, rape, and child molestations) for example. Prior to that, I was employed by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Police Department for approximately 7 years. Assigned as a Police Sergeant in the Emergency Preparedness Unit. Some of the duties and responsibilities of the unit include conducting Senior Leaders Seminars, full-scale functional drills, managing federal grants, conducting Threat and Vulnerability Assessments, Physical Security (access control, fencing, and lighting), fleet management, and all terrorism-related activities (threat levels).<br> I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice from North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Georgia, and graduated in 1999. I earned my master’s from the University of Phoenix in Criminal Justice, Security, and Administration in 2008.
