Dr. Bauer was born in New York City, but grew up in Virginia. Her travels have taken her throughout the United States and Europe and Central America. Dr. Bauer’s favorite opera roles include: Anne Truelove from “Rake’s Progress,” Marie from the “Daughter of the Regiment,” Mother from "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and Mrs. Grose in “Turn of the Screw.” Dr. Bauer also has served as musical director for many musical productions such as"Fiddler on the Roof", "The Little Mermaid" “Guys and Dolls,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” and more.<br>Dr. Bauer is the director of Western’s Opera Workshop Ensemble. This ensemble excerpts scenes from opera and operetta and performs with costumes and sets.<br>She lives in Sylva, North Carolina with her husband and two children.
My teaching interests are vocal pedagogy, diction for singers, voice literature, opera, musical theatre and the health of the voice.
Recently I have been exploring other non-classical singing styles such as gospel and jazz. In addition, I have an interest in researching various topics related to opera.
