Ken is an Associate Professor of Business Administration & Law at Western Carolina University's College of Business. Ken's teaching and scholarship focuses on intellectual property, ethics, leadership, entertainment and sports law, constitutional law (individual liberties), and higher education pedagogy and policy (scholarship of teaching and learning).<br><br>Prior to joining the faculty at Western, Ken was the founding Chairperson of the Department of Entrepreneurship in the College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University (CMU). Ken joined CMU's faculty in the Department of Finance & Law in 2009, after serving as a music business faculty member in Middle Tennessee State University’s Department of Recording Industry from 2006 to 2009. <br><br>Before becoming a full-time academic, Ken was an entertainment and intellectual property attorney in Nashville, Tennessee. He served as lead trial counsel in state and federal jury trials. During his legal practice, Ken represented numerous businesses in all stages of the business life cycle. He also represented recording artists, music producers, songwriters, record labels, and music publishing companies. Ken also had the honor of serving as a specially appointed judge in Williamson County, Tennessee. <br><br>Ken has served on the CMU Research Corporation board of directors, the board of directors for the Williamson County (Tennessee) Court Appointed Special Advocates’ (CASA), and is a voting member of the Country Music Association (CMA). He has also been an active volunteer with CASA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Isabella Community Soup Kitchen, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
