Biography

Ethan King is the Recording Studio Engineer and instructor for classes relating to audio recording for music and film. Mr. King attended Western Carolina University for his undergraduate studies where he majored in Music with a Concentration on Commercial & Electronic Music. He then went on to complete his Master’s degree at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he completed his degree in Sound Recorded Technology. During this time, Mr. King completed his thesis on Audio for Post-Production, where he created a complete surround mix for a short film. After graduation, Mr. King served as a Production manager for the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, NC, where he served as the lead mix engineer for the in-house musical, <i>First Date</i>. There has always been a lifelong passion for saxophone music in the King family, with at least eight members of the extended family being proficient in saxophone performance. Throughout his life, Mr. King has performed with numerous groups, including principal chair in both university wind ensembles, a saxophone quartet at both colleges, multiple versions of the Randleman Friends Meeting Saxophone Ensemble, and the Matthews Concert Band. He continues to perform when possible and enjoys listening to other accomplished musicians.<br><br>Ethan grew up in a musical family and claims the central part of North Carolina as his hometown. In the midst of farmland and small cities, Mr. King took an active role in the community participating in the Boy Scouts, volunteering at local charity centers, and being an active member in his home church. Outside of the academic sphere, he loves watching UNC basketball, playing racquetball, and hiking the beautiful mountains of NC.
