Biography

Kelly completed her BS in Nutrition Science and her MS in Foods & Nutrition at the University of Georgia. She became a registered dietitian after finishing her dietetic internship at Tulane University in New Orleans. Kelly worked as a clinical dietitian at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC from fall of 2014 to summer of 2021, during which time she helped coordinate clinical practicum experiences for dietetic interns from regional academic institutions. While at Mission, she also taught courses as an adjunct professor with Western Carolina University prior to accepting a role as a full-time Instructor in the Nutrition & Dietetics Department in fall of 2021.

Teaching Interests

Kelly’s primary area of expertise is Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, particularly medical nutrition therapy related to malnutrition and gastrointestinal disorders. She also has earned a Certificate in Gerontology, and her graduate research focused on Nutrition & Aging. Additional areas of interest include Public Health Nutrition, Motivational Interviewing, and Weight Management.
