I am originally from Red Bay, Alabama. After completing my MBA in 1999 from Mississippi State University, I began working for a CPA firm in Birmingham, Alabama. Then, seeking the opportunity to give back, I decided to pursue a career in education. I began my teaching career at East Mississippi Community College. While there I became a CPA, and began teaching on an adjunct basis at Mississippi State University. In 2009 I moved to North Carolina to accept an instructor position at Haywood Community College. While at HCC I served as honors club sponsor, and on the board of a local non-profit dedicated to helping abused children. I am now happy to serve as an instructor at Western Carolina University. Outside of work I enjoy traveling and backpacking. After moving to Asheville, I began section hiking the Appalachian Trail, and I hope to complete it in 2025.
I enjoy teaching financial and managerial accounting. I hope to provide students with a foundation to be successful in their accounting or business careers. It's rewarding to see students grasp new topics.
