Jane Hughes

Biography

Associate Professor of Interior Design at Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC and a practicing interior designer. Master’s degree awarded by the University of<br>Kentucky, and Bachelor’s from Miami University. Early career focused on resort and multi-family construction and has progressed into exploring ways in which designers can positively affect the Quality of Life for our elder population.

Teaching Interests

Teaching Interests include hand drafting, digital and hand drawn perspectives and renderings, building codes and upper level design studios focusing on commercial design. As well, as Assessment within the arts.

Research Interests

Primary areas of research include acoustics as they relate to Quality of Life in Elder Care, and Formative and Summative Assessment within the arts with a focus on Interior Design.
