Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, John McHone received his BA in English with a minor in Art as well as his MA in English from East Carolina University. He’s been teaching in western North Carolina since 2016 and at Western Carolina University since 2018.<br>John spends his free time on woodworking, pottery, painting, and various other artistic endeavors. He also enjoys hiking and playing guitar and banjo horribly (but he’s getting better).
John’s teaching interests lie with foundational Rhetoric and Composition courses as well as Technical and Professional Communication laying the groundwork for writing with real world implications. Within these courses he likes to explore digital writing spaces and genres outside of academia.
John's research interests are in digital pedagogy, activism, sci-fi, and film.
