Dr. Marion graduated from Western Carolina University's DPT program in 2015. During his time in the program, Dr. Marion was fortunate to work as a graduate assistant under the mentorship of Dr. Kathy Starr, the department's anatomist. Dr. Starr inspired him to consider exploring anatomical sciences education in connection with his clinical pursuits in rehabilitation. And that's exactly what happened. Dr. Marion practiced in the outpatient setting for just over four years before entering academia teaching anatomy and physiology and rehabilitation courses. He was then accepted into a PhD program for Learning and Teaching in STEM with a concentration in Science Education a North Carolina State University under the direction of Dr. Soonhye Park. Dr. Marion directed his research toward anatomical sciences education in post-secondary settings. After receiving his candidacy, Dr. Marion took a position at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans with the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy teaching anatomy and histology. He has now come full circle stepping into the role that inspired him over a decade earlier.

Prior to his pursuits in physical therapy and anatomical sciences education, Dr. Marion earned his BFA in dance education from East Carolina University. Some of his post-undergraduate experiences include performance, choreography and directing, teaching high school, working in community mental health, and serving as a residential English teacher in Spain. Outside of academia, he enjoys teaching yoga, making pottery, and going hiking when time allows.
