Before joining the faculty at WCU, Aaron worked in community mental health for over a decade in a variety of roles. Most recently, he worked as an outpatient therapist in rural areas of East Tennessee. Aaron’s experiences treating addictions motivated him to pursue research on how to improve access to evidence-based practices for addictions in rural communities. Aaron enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, exploring Western Carolina. Having grown up near the Ocoee River in Southeast Tennessee, Aaron has been an avid whitewater kayaker since a young age.
