WCU features two main dining locations on campus. Courtyard Dining Hall is located in the center of campus near Balsam and Blue Ridge residence halls and features an all-you-can-eat venue upstairs which offers both vegetarian and gluten free options and a food court downstairs. The food court features Starbucks, Freshens, Which Wich, Panda Express and Moe's Southwestern Grill. The second dining hall, the Lodge at Brown Hall, is located on upper campus near Albright-Benton Halls and the upper campus residence halls. Brown Hall, renovated 2016-2017 and reopened in fall 2017, features the dining hall, Steak n’ Shake and a full service Starbucks. In addition to food service, Brown Hall offers beautiful and scenic outdoor seating areas including a rooftop terrace, hillside plaza, a fire pit and a water feature. The indoor seating area, the Cats Den, features a large stone fireplace. Other on campus dining options include Chili’s, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Chick-fil-A and Papa Johns.
Western NC is known for being environmentally conscious and supporting local industries. Our dining operations embody these priorities every day. Aramark’s Green Thread program provides the framework for efforts that include responsible sourcing of products, waste minimization and operational efficiency. Among other initiatives, Dining Services sources food from local farmers and growers, partners with Blue Ridge Biofuels to recycle fryer oil and has practiced trayless dining since 2009.
