Management and Leadership of the Nonprofit Sector: Understanding the Role & Mission
of Nonprofits in our Community
Tuesday, August 17, 2021 / offered online via Zoom
The workshop will introduce participants to how private, nonprofit organizations have been essential to the creation and evolution of American society since the colonial days. However, a push to professionalize the leaders and employees of nonprofit sector organizations and an accompanying academic literature on the nonprofit sector did not emerge until the 1970s. It’s a must for nonprofits today to have strong well-qualified leadership that understand and support a purpose-driven mission. In this workshop, you’ll learn about the different types of nonprofit organizations, distinguishing characteristics of a nonprofit, top funding sources for nonprofits, and you’ll be introduced to an overview of nonprofit accounting. Most importantly, you’ll learn why the mission matters the most!
